Les reenvío esta invitación que puede ser de interes de más de alguno, que consiste básicamente en la posibilidad de ir a trabajar, como realizando un internado a los cuarteles generales de la Organización Mundial de la Salud. En esta oportunidad hay cupos abiertos para el Departamento de Comunicaciones de la OMS y el Departamento de Envejecimiento y Curso Vital.

… do you have an interest in public health, would like to learn how health messages are communicated most efficiently, which communication pathways work the best in which situations,…

IFMSA has been offered three two-month internship positions with the WHO Communications Department (with the possibility to extend it to three months if decided by both parties). Internships are to start 1st July, 1st October and 1st December 2009. Intern would be mentored by the Team Leader of the Corporate Communications – Dr Gaya Hamhawage and Ms Veronica Riemer.

Terms of Reference for the IFMSA interns:

– Coordinate the visits of external organizations to WHO.

– Help organize WHO communications training.

– Support production of public health communication material.

– Assist in production audio visual material to support WHO’s work.

– Provide support when necessary to health campaigns run by departments and regions.

– Help out in emergency communications operations when relevant.

IFMSA candidates should:

– Be enrolled in university degree in medicine or public health (pre or post-grad studies)

– Have excellent communication skills

– Ability to work and multi disciplinary and multi cultural teams and demonstrate flexibility.

– Language skills: excellent command of English and proficiency of other UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) an advantage.

Applicants need to submit (in English):

– Curriculum Vitae – no longer than 3 pages

– Motivation Letter – no longer than 1 page (to the point, expressing motivation to learn, field of interest and background relevant to the internship)

– clearly state which date of the internship you are applying for

Please note that WHO internships are non-paid – no financial support is given to interns to cover accommodation or any other cost. WHO can assist you to obtain a visa and IFMSA can share with you a manual done by previous IFMSA interns, with tips on how to get around Geneva and find cheep/er accommodation. Interns after successful completion of the internship are provided with a Recommendation Letter by their mentors.

IFMSA has been offered two three-month internship positions with the WHO Ageing and Life Course Department. Internship should start and be completed between July and October. Both interns would be working together and in parallel under the Director of the Department – Prof John Beard and Ms Charlotte Wristberg.

Terms of Reference for the IFMSA interns:

– To assist in the creation of a workforce development plan on ageing and health for the WHO Department of Ageing and Life Course.

– To examine and sumarise previous work on the incorporation of ageing related issues into medical curricula and to identify opportunities for advancing initiatives in this field

– To identify gaps in previous work and suggest ways of filling them

– To expand the Department’s website to include issues relating to medical workforce.

IFMSA candidates should:

– Be enrolled in university degree in medicine or public health (pre or post-grad studies)

– Have excellent communication skills

– Ability to work and multi disciplinary and multi cultural teams and demonstrate flexibility.

– Language skills: excellent command of English and proficiency of other UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) an advantage.
